Setup 08 – Install ReaPack on Windows
Free setup training for Kardango and REAPER.

Setup Guide & Troubleshooting
Purpose
This setup adds ReaPack to the current Windows REAPER installation. The downloaded DLL is an extension file; it is not an installer program.
Before you begin
- Complete Setup 02B and make sure the ReaPack DLL is in Downloads.
- Use the Windows x64 DLL for the x64 REAPER installation shown in the setup.
- Do not use a 32-bit or ARM build.
- If ReaPack is already installed and visible in REAPER, continue to Setup 09.
Key steps
- Open Downloads and locate the file whose name begins with
reaper_reapackand ends in.dll. - Do not double-click or try to run the DLL.
- Start REAPER and choose Options → Show REAPER resource path in explorer or finder.
- Open the UserPlugins folder in the resource path.
- Leave File Explorer open, but quit REAPER completely.
- Copy the ReaPack DLL from Downloads into UserPlugins.
- If Windows asks whether to replace an older file, confirm only when you are updating the same x64 ReaPack extension.
- Verify that the DLL appears in UserPlugins. Do not place it in Program Files or Kardango’s Scripts folder.
- Restart REAPER.
- If ReaPack offers to configure its default repositories, keep the defaults and continue.
- Wait for the initial synchronization to finish.
- Open Extensions and verify that ReaPack is present.
- Quit REAPER after the check.
Expected result
The x64 ReaPack DLL is inside the UserPlugins folder used by the current REAPER installation. ReaPack appears under Extensions after REAPER restarts.
Common problems
Windows does not open the DLL
That is expected: the DLL is not an installer. Copy it into REAPER’s UserPlugins folder instead of running it.
ReaPack does not appear under Extensions
Confirm that:
- the DLL is the x64 version;
- it is in the exact UserPlugins folder opened from REAPER;
- it is not in Program Files or the Kardango Scripts folder; and
- REAPER was completely restarted after the copy.
Windows asks to replace an existing file
Replace it only if you are deliberately updating the same x64 ReaPack extension. Do not overwrite a file when the architecture or destination is uncertain.
The repository window appears
Keep the defaults shown in the setup and allow the initial synchronization to finish before moving on.
