Setup Guide & Troubleshooting

Purpose

This setup installs the SWS Extension into the Windows REAPER installation. The installation is confirmed when SWS functions, including the SWS/S&M submenu, appear under Extensions in REAPER.

Before you begin

  • Complete Setup 02B and make sure the SWS installer is in Downloads.
  • Use the Windows x64 installer shown in the setup process.
  • Quit REAPER completely and keep it closed during installation.
  • If SWS is already installed and working, continue to the Windows ReaPack setup.

Key steps

  1. Open Downloads in File Explorer and locate the SWS Windows installer.
  2. Double-click the installer.
  3. If Windows SmartScreen appears, select More info, then Run anyway.
  4. Read the terms and select I Agree if you accept them.
  5. For a standard REAPER installation, keep the destination folder suggested by the installer.
  6. Select Install and wait while the installer copies the SWS files.
  7. Close the installer when it finishes.
  8. Start REAPER and open Extensions in the top menu bar.
  9. Verify that SWS functions, including SWS/S&M, are available.
  10. Quit REAPER after the check.

Expected result

SWS loads with REAPER, and its functions are available from REAPER’s Extensions menu.

Common problems

Windows blocks the installer

If SmartScreen provides the option, select More info and then Run anyway for the SWS installer you intentionally downloaded.

The installer selects an unexpected destination

The installer must target the REAPER installation you intend to use. For the standard installation shown in the film, keep its suggested folder. Do not continue if the destination clearly refers to a different REAPER installation.

Extensions or SWS is missing after installation

Confirm that:

  • REAPER was closed during installation;
  • the installer completed without being cancelled;
  • the correct REAPER destination was used; and
  • REAPER was restarted after installation.

Open Setup Help before continuing if the Extensions menu is still missing.
