Setup 11 – Install Kardango on Windows

Purpose

This setup installs the complete Kardango environment on Windows: the Kardango scripts, demo project, customer content, and Music and FX starter library. The installer places each part in its intended location, so no folders need to be created or moved manually.

Before you begin

• Install REAPER.
• Install the SWS Extension.
• Complete the preceding setup steps, including the ReaImGui installation in Setup 09.
• Quit REAPER completely before starting the Kardango installer.
• Locate the Kardango Setup executable in the Downloads folder.

Use Kardango Setup for a complete installation. Do not choose Kardango Update when performing the initial installation.

Steps and key actions

1. Double-click the Kardango Setup executable.
2. If Windows displays a security confirmation, verify that the file came from the official Kardango download, then continue.
3. When the Kardango reminder appears, make sure REAPER is closed and click OK.
4. On the Welcome page, confirm that the installer is for Kardango REAPER Tools, then click Next.
5. On Select Components, keep Complete installation selected. This includes the scripts, demo project, and Music and FX starter library.
6. On Ready to Install, click Install.
7. Wait until Setup confirms that the installation is complete.
8. Leave the First Start option selected and click Finish.
9. The Kardango First Start reference opens automatically. You do not need to follow it at this point; the setup videos continue the guided installation. Keep the reference for later information about installed locations, workflow options, and dependencies.

The installer uses these main locations:

• The demo project, customer content, and Music and FX starter library are placed under Documents/Kardango.
• The scripts are placed separately in REAPER’s Scripts/Kardango folder.

Keep the installed Kardango folder structure unchanged. In particular, do not move the Music or FX folders away from the shared library folder.

Expected result

Setup reports a successful installation, the Kardango content is available under Documents, and the scripts are present in REAPER’s Scripts folder. The files are installed, but the Kardango Actions have not yet been registered in REAPER.

If Kardango was already installed, the installer preserves projects and user files.

Common problems

Windows shows a security confirmation

Verify that the installer came from the official Kardango download before continuing.

The installer says that REAPER is open

Quit REAPER completely, acknowledge the reminder, and run Setup again if necessary.

You downloaded both Setup and Update

Use Kardango Setup for the complete installation. The Update package is not the initial installer.

You cannot find the installed content

Look under Documents/Kardango for the demo project, customer content, and shared Music and FX library. Kardango scripts are stored separately in REAPER’s Scripts folder under Kardango.

Files were moved after installation

Restore the original folder structure before continuing. Kardango expects the Music and FX folders to remain in their installed shared-library location.

The First Start reference opens

This is expected. It is a reference, not an additional installation step. The setup videos provide the guided sequence.
