Setup Guide & Troubleshooting
Purpose
Install REAPER on macOS and confirm that the application starts without an installation error.
Before you begin
- The REAPER DMG downloaded in Setup 02A should be in your Downloads folder.
- If REAPER is already installed and working, continue directly to Setup 05.
- No audio-device configuration or project is required during this check.
Steps and key actions
- Open Downloads in Finder and locate the REAPER DMG file.
- Double-click the DMG and wait for macOS to open it.
- Drag the REAPER application onto the Applications folder shown in the disk-image window.
- Wait until copying is complete.
- Open Applications and start REAPER.
- If macOS asks whether to open an application downloaded from the internet, choose Open.
- Allow microphone access if you intend to record directly into REAPER.
- Allow access to folders needed for Kardango projects and media.
- If the REAPER evaluation window appears, continue evaluating or enter an existing license.
- Confirm that the main REAPER window becomes fully visible.
- Quit REAPER completely before continuing.
Expected result
REAPER opens successfully from the Applications folder and is ready for the required extensions.
Common problems
- The version number differs from the film: This is expected and does not by itself indicate a problem.
- macOS warns that the application came from the internet: This is a normal security message; choose Open.
- A microphone permission dialog appears: Allow it if direct recording will be used.
- A folder-access dialog appears: Grant access to the locations used for Kardango projects and media.
- The evaluation window appears: It is not an installation error. Continue evaluating or enter a license.
- REAPER is left open: Quit it completely before installing SWS.
